The Grossglockner, the Transfagarasan, the Bealach na Bà, and the N338 climbing out of Manteigas into Portugal's highest mountains. Each road has its photos, why it is worth riding, how long it is and where it starts.

See the road before you ride it.

Switch the map to satellite and turn on the curated roads: every one is marked on the map, with its photos pinned along it. Through the Picos de Europa that is the lakes of Covadonga, the gorges and the Puerto de San Glorio, all on one ride.

It tells you when not to go.

Somewhere to stay at the end of it.

Tap the route and MotoCast finds the hotels near that point, how far off the route each one is, its ratings on Google Maps and its website. Add it as a stop in one tap.

Fuel and food work the same way, with fuel prices where they are known.

What it does

A weather app tells you about one place. A ride covers dozens, over hours. MotoCast puts the forecast on the route itself.

Weather along the route

Not one forecast for where you set off. MotoCast checks points along the way at the hour you will be there, and shows the rain, temperature and wind on the map.

One score for the ride

A score out of 100, from Great to Severe, built from rain, wind, cold and ice, and judged against your own limits: how cold, how windy and how wet you will ride in.

The best time to leave

Slide the start time and watch the score change, or let MotoCast find the best start inside the hours you like to ride.

When can I get the bike out?

The next eight days around home, one row per day, with the longest stretch of hours that is warm, calm and dry enough for your limits. Tap a day and it goes straight to planning a ride with that start time.

The weather compass builds a loop in each of eight directions and scores them, so you can see which way the better weather is. With ride alerts on, the Android app tells you when a day looks genuinely good, and stays quiet the rest of the time.

On the road

Planning works in the browser and the app. Navigation is in the Android app.

  • Maps for when the signal goes Download the areas you ride and navigation carries on when the phone loses signal.
  • Your routes, kept Save routes, split a long trip into days, and bring routes in or take them out as GPX files.

Join the beta

MotoCast is in testing on Android, through Google Play. Testers get the app free and their feedback shapes what comes next.

  1. Email admin@motocast.app with your name and the Google account your phone uses.
  2. You get a personal invite link to install MotoCast from Google Play.
  3. Open it and sign in. Updates arrive through Play like any other app.
